Turn Back Time

Egads, thanks to the Daily Prompt Turn Back Time for today I have what was the topic for the Daily Prompt several days ago, i.e. Earworm which I neglected to write to since I can’t stand worms and the thought of one in the ear is just too disgusting and bottom line, I didn’t have an earthingy just then and knew if I made something up it would really stupid.

So now I do have an earthingy, not to hard to guess what it is right?  It’s Cher’s If I Could Turn Back Time and hence, Cher’s photo appearing in this post.

My immediate thought when I read the prompt:

If you could return to the past to relive a part of your life, either to experience the wonderful bits again, or to do something over, which part of you life would you return to? Why?

was that it would have to be my college years and not because I want to totally do the whole thing differently, that’s not it at all.  What I’d like to do is relive that part of my life with all of the wisdom and insights gained since then to see if I’d make the same choices in the same situations again.  I’m a big believer in The Power of Now so I like to think that I learn something from my mistakes without dwelling on them and carrying around a bunch of regrets about things I can’t change or do over again.  This is why my purpose in reliving those days would not necessarily be to change it all around but to experience it with the same vision I have today.

It was a great time in my life but like everyone else, being young, I had no idea what the things I learned and did and the people I interacted with would really stick with me as I went on with my life.  It’s like I’d want to combine the re-living of that time with a simultaneous Back to the Future effect so I’d get flashes of how a particular action or event would come into play years later.

The one thing I’d maybe do over is not split my cheer partner’s lip before the first football game of the season–and that is because to this day he will not let me forget about it!

CJ aka the shit
Yes I did, I thought I was “the shit” in that ugly-ass uniform!
