Blogging 101: I’m Back in School

Disclaimer:

Call it the perfectionist in me but I do like to begin things at the beginning and work them until the end.  I know that being a perfectionist can keep you from participating in things, enjoying them fully, and being a nice person sometimes (::snicker::), right?  But we must have standards and follow them or at least try to most of the time.  (qualifying phrase at the end tacked on by a wanna-be reformed perfectionist). So I’m going through the Blogging 101 Daily Tasks from the top

Blogging 101:  Day One

“Who I am and why I’m here”

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?

I touched on this very briefly a couple of weeks ago when I sat down  determined to blog regularly and just threw out some things off the top of my head about why one would write publicly vs. journal privately.  I do both by the way but for me, I enjoy the intelligent banter that emerges when you’re thinking about something and you write about it –putting it out there to see if it resonates with anyone else and what they have to say about it.

  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?

I’ve given this some thought also and decided that I’ll continue to blog about the occurrences of daily life – things I’ve heard; challenges I’m facing in job hunting, work, housekeeping, teaching; crazy people I encounter; the ironies of raising children; people and things that inspire me.

  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?

I absolutely love connecting with people who have a variety of interests, love to share their thoughts and don’t take themselves too seriously–I think of it as being authentic.  I love to connect with other authentic to be people.

  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

My goal in getting serious about my writing, going through these exercises, etc. is to expand my network of authentic people and connect with them on a regular basis.  I like the idea of monetizing my blog and don’t have a problem seeing ads on my page or other peoples’ pages –I guess I’m used to it because it’s the way of most of the internet and to be honest this is more of an entertainment endeavor than serious reading and research of an academic nature.  So making a little money doing this is part of the goal.

Daily Task 2

As I mentioned earlier, I started on this path a couple of weeks ago before I even signed on to Blogging 101 and so my title and tagline were reconsidered back then and I wrote about that here Getting the Look Right and here Having Another Go at The Look, in fact I went back to my original idea for a logo design and plan to get this prototype shined up and looking nice.

  1. liking to start at the beginning and work things through to the end is not being a perfectionist, it just means you like doing things in a serial manner 😛

being a bit of a perfectionist comes out in the way you write and structure and format your blog entries 😀

I don’t always check in, but when I rise at 3:40 am and check my email, it’s fun to peer into your world. Keep it up, you’re inciteful and entertaining…
