More Than Meets the Eye

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.  John 8:32

More journaling in my sketch book – this time on a drawing of a flower I did with Inktense pencils painted over with water to make the vibrant ink “pop”.

Sometime’s there’s more to a picture than meets the eye and often what’s not visible is not as beautiful as the part you can see.  Just as the plant that bears beautiful flowers requires a not-so-beautiful root system that lies hidden in the soil, we need the less-than-picture-perfect parts of ourselves because they too are essential to who and what we are.  So rather than hiding those parts, or worse, hiding from them, we should instead embrace and love them because it is through them that we reach a deeper understanding of ourselves and our purpose.  That’s the way the Lord made us and how He wants us to operate.  When we stand before God in awareness of our flaws and weaknesses as well as our strengths and talents we’re achieving the feeling of great peace and that is because the TRUTH really does SET US FREE……
