When was the last time someone told you they were proud of you? http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/02/15/daily-prompt-proud/

I’m fortunate in that my mother, even after all these years of torturing her, often still tells me she’s proud of me.  But I think the last time I specifically recall someone actually saying those words to me was a couple of weeks ago when I called my aunt/godmother to tell her that my kids had both brought home straight A’s on their report cards for the 2nd quarter.

Aunt Dee repeated something she’s said to me quite a few times over the years, “Cynde, I’m so proud of you for the way you’re raising your children.”  I tell her that I’m just doing it the only way I know how–the way I was raised–and she always just repeats “I know but I’m so proud of you for raising such wonderful children.”  P.S.  She’s aware that I am not doing this alone and that their father is an equally prominent figure in this child raising thing that’s going on and I think that’s all rolled into the “proud-ness”, meaning I think she’s proud of both of us individually and for the way we work it together with the resulting wonderful children.

Hearing those words from a woman I love with all my heart and who I know returns that love; a woman who opened her home to me and still continues to do so at any time for any reason; a woman whose company I greatly enjoy–the conversations, the reminiscing, the laughs, the tears; a woman who played a significant role in the way I was raised, means the world to me and I know how very blessed and lucky I am to have her in my life to say them to me.

  1. The last person that said it to me was you and I too really appreciated that. My friend Maryanne also recently reiterated those words to me and it really does invigorate. Thanks to both of you.
