Describe  your dream house….

Hmmmm, I was just thinking about this over the weekend as I flipped through the latest issue of This Old House magazine – yes I get a print magazine, actually get two & the other is Real Simple.

So the thing I decided that my next house MUST HAVE is a laundry chute.  I don’t care if my kids are grown and I’m living in that next house all by myself.  I don’t want a damn washer & dryer on my 2nd floor, I wand a laundry chute that deposits the laundry in a laundry bin right next to my washing machine!

As for the house – I’m going to have to go with big stone Victorian with a turret.

Kitchen – Big & Open – lots of rustic wood and marble counter space opens up to great room with large table and chairs – french doors out to slate patio – English cottage garden out back – lots of birdhouses, sitting benches, comfy chaise, big umbrella, fire pit, big stone built in grill and bar

Reading & Writing Room – see my other post from today February One A Day – Day 3 :

My Room – King bed (natch) lots of pillows – minimum of 6 – color scheme – something soothing – Walk in closet with the whole built in deal – shoe racks, jewelry armoire, top and bottom hanger bars (no wire hangers, LOL), settee and full length mirror in there. – nook off to the side – perhaps this is inside the turret – with QUEEN Ann chair and ottoman, built in/hidden mini- fridge to keep stocked with iced tea and chardonnay (YUM)

wait, why am I doing all of this from my head……my dream house already exists and my friend Melissa A. owns it.  It’s in East Tennessee and it’s to die for.  She has the most amazing taste made more amazing by the fact that she did her own decorating.  I’d add a few of my own personal touches of course (see Reading & Writing Room) but I’d take Mel’s house with those “big as a VW bugBoston Ferns hanging all around the wrap-around porch (complete with drip auto watering system)…..

Love the garage with the cousin “Shrank” living in the apartment above.  Love the pool house and of course, the pool!!   Love you Mel, this one’s for you!!

  1. only 58 views today, really? I’m going to have to mention mood ring here again today…..when I do this it’s always good for dragging at least one random stranger looking for the meanings of the mood ring colors over to my blog….I’m employing every tool at my disposal here, LOL
