‘Tis the day after Christmas and all through the house

Not a creature is stirring except our new mouse (Reese the Meese)

The kids are still sleeping no electronics are blasting

I creep down the stairs, this quiet ain’t lasting –

But the dogs hear me rise and they’ve opened their eyes

Then the down dog stretch, their tails to the skies

They go out to pee and we see that it’s snowing

At least I’m not hearing the darn neighbors mowing!

All gifts are unwrapped, the roast beast has been ‘et

Maybe later to the mall to see what else we can get

There’s that game to exchange and some aquarium supplies

Perhaps we’ll grab lunch, that will be a surprise.

There’s no work today, we’ve got more days to play

Then it’s back to the grind, and more messes to find

Somewhere in this jumble we’ve lost the house phone

I’m sure that I’ll find it when I’m again home alone

Alone with the windows, kitchen cabinets and floor

These things still need cleaning, yep these things and more

Then back to the grindstone I’ll be pointing my nose

Off to work again, how quick the year goes

Yes I had that nice break to relax and unwind

and to clean up this house and quiet my mind

That break was much needed, I’m grateful for that

But I’ll be back in the swing in no time flat

And to Old Town I drive with a laptop in tow

Hope they give me an iPad, we’ll see how that goes

Is it worth that trade off from part time to full

I could stick with my Blackberry this choice I will mull

As I return to the sofa and to watch all this snow

It’s coming down harder, how much we don’t know

What a day to stay in, to read and drink tea

Or to play with the new paints Santa brought me?

No cooking, no cleaning this day will I do

That much I’ve decided, how about you?
