Happy Thanksgiving! I thought I wouldn’t have a chance to write anything today because it’s Thanksgiving day and I’m cooking our dinner feast and all of that wonderful stuff. Starting with making the apple and pumpkin pies last night and going to bed early I set myself up for success here by getting started early today and not stopping until everything was finished or prepped. This is how I spell S U C C E S S on Thanksgiving day – bird in the oven by 8:30 and everything else prepped and ready by 10:30 with a clean sink to boot.
This Thanksgiving day reminds me of the one when I also got everything ready early and spent the day reading “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini, who also wrote “The Kite Runner”. I loved both of those books and read the 2nd one in its entirety on Thanksgiving that year and it was obviously a memorable as well as enjoyable day.
Today, I opted to come down to the new and improved craft area to plug in the computer and also break out some fresh paint. I’m not really sure which way I’m going next on the canvasses so I opted to get a few art journal pages started last night. Even though it’s the Fall season and I love Fall and all that goes along with it including the vibrant colors I’m in more of a pink mood and so this is what I came up with for today
The oven timer just went off and the turkey is probably ready. We skipped lunch today so everyone is probably really hungry. I know I am and since I’m not up in the kitchen all stressed out at the moment I’ll probably get to enjoy my dinner much more than if I was trying to pull it all together at the last minute. So off I go the the final steps: bird out of the oven, set white potatoes to boil, candied sweet potatoes into the oven; little rolls onto baking sheet, make the gravy and add the fresh mushrooms once it starts to simmer……made them this way with my last pork roast vs. sauteing separately and they tasted way better – and I saved on all that butter – this time I used all that butter for the candied sweets…..and with that the C-Sweet will sign off and call this Turkey Day meal preparation a SUCCESS!
