Weekly Photo Challenge: Foreign

I’m not saying Savannah, GA is a foreign place. It’s a very lovely place and one I’m so glad I visited last summer. However, the containers in this photo of a  ship registered to Panama most certainly contain things from foreign places!

  1. Panamanian flagged ships are very common, though; US are expensive/regulated, etc. Much of our goods – Nike, Gap, etc. – come from places overseas, and this is what they come in. Once the ship arrives, a crane puts the container on a flatbed, and off it goes on the highway to its final destination, the distribution center; intermodal transportation is how goods reach us at our local mall. (gratis many years experience in USNR in logistics with container ships).
